What IS anime?Anime is basically just Japanese animation. It has a growing following and is gradually becoming more mainstream. Some anime are dubbed into English and put on TV like any other cartoon, others are out on video and some are harder to get a hold of.
Many anime are based on manga, or comic books. Manga usually have a slightly different style to anime, it's less cartoonish. Cartoons that are anime are usually easy to recognise by the characters with large eyes and little mouths. Females are usually voluptuous, unless deliberately not, the style is easy to recognise after a while. But most anime have different artwork styles. Ehh, I can't think of anything to say. Maybe I'll come back later and write more.

Like any TV shows, there are many different types of anime. Action, fighting, humour, romance, relationships, war. Dark futures for Earth, ordinary people who become heroes, death and jealousy and determination. Cute girls in sailor suits, nudity, fluffy talking creatures, battles in space. No, anime is definitely not all kiddie stuff, nor is it all violent pornography, two common stereotypes.
